These Vivid, Colourful Photos of North Korea Will Change Your Perception Of The Country

There’s a chance that you are already aware of Fabian Muir. He was the guy who walked over a thousand miles through Australia so that he could take some photos of a burqa.

The striking blue burqa, against the fiery red backdrop of the Australian landscape was a powerful commentary on Australia’s proposals to ban burqas in that country.

It’s a similar perspective shift that he makes use of in his latest project – this time aiming his focus on the shadowy, secretive North Korea.

For the last several years, he has travelled numerous times to North Korea, slowly developing enough of a relationship with the powers that be in the oblique nation, that he has been able to get unprecedented access. Able to photograph in more detail than any previous western photographer, his photography is alive with colour and breaks away from the typical grey concrete narrative that we are traditionally presented with.
